Hello, Region 3 students! We're so glad you've decided to complete a History Day project, and we wish you the best of luck in competition.
Some notes about registration:
Your Teacher and your school must already be registered for you to complete your registration.
Before you begin your registration, you should have:
- your contact information
- contact information for a parent or guardian
- information about your project (title, a short description, and the category).
If you are part of a group project, students will register individually. The student who registers first will receive a project key that the other group members must know to link their registrations to the group project.
Hello, Region 3 Teachers, and welcome to History Day!
You must register yourself before your students can register, and you may also need to register your school if it is not available to select.
After you are registered, you will be able to monitor and verify which of your students have registered.
Thank you for your interest in judging at the Region 3 Ohio History Day contest on March 16, 2019!
Our judges are a crucial component in making the Region 3 Ohio History Day contest an enriching, memorable experience for the students who participate. Judges receive training from Region 3 staff on rules and evaluation procedures on competition day, and we make every effort to pair new judges with experienced judges. In teams, judges interview students about their projects and provide written feedback about the student projects. The Cleveland History Center provides lunches for judges.
The question we are most frequently asked about History Day judging is: do I have to be an “expert” to judge? The answer is NO! If you like history and you consider yourself a critical thinker or an avid reader/writer, then you are qualified to be a History Day judge.
A good history day judge also:
- Likes talking to kids
- Asks open-ended questions
- Gives constructive feedback
- Remains objective while assessing subject matter
- Works in teams to find consensus
On Competition Day:
Please note that all judges must arrive by 8am for orientation and remain until evaluation sheets have been completed (by 1pm).
Judges must be available to attend Judge Orientation starting at 8am. Then, judging takes place between 9:00am and 2pm at the Cleveland History Center and Case Western Reserve University’s School of Law. Judges are then welcome, but not required, to attend the Awards Ceremony at 3:00pm at the Maltz Performing Arts Center on the CWRU campus.
